Lobby Functionality for Multiplayer

As we progress forward in the development of the project, one critical feature stands out: the ability for friends to join the game and race against each other. However, we face a roadblock as we currently lack the functionality to create lobbies where players can gather before hitting the tracks. This could hinder player engagement and limit the social aspect of our game. But fear not, for we’re revving up our engines to tackle this challenge head-on.

The Problem: Without lobby functionality, players are left without a centralized hub to gather and compete. This limits the potential for memorable multiplayer experiences. Without the ability to easily invite friends or join matches together, players may feel less inclined to engage with our game over the long haul.

The Solution: To address this situation, I’ve have been researching a lot to implement lobby functionality into our game. After diving into research, I’ve discovered that Steam provides robust integration for multiplayer lobbies, offering a seamless solution for our needs. By leveraging Steam’s features, we can empower players to create and join lobbies, invite friends, and coordinate races with ease. This solution not only enhances the multiplayer experience but also fosters a sense of connection among players. With lobby functionality in place, our game will become a hub of racing excitement and social interaction, propelling us closer to our goal of delivering an engaging experience for the project
