Maps Update: Terrain and Skybox
Part 1: The Problem: Initially, the first level in the game lacked visual depth and immersion. While the track itself was well-designed, the surrounding environment felt empty and lacked detail. Without a visually appealing environment, players may have found it challenging to feel engaged and invested in the gameplay. It was clear that we needed to enhance the visual aesthetics of the level to create a more immersive racing experience.
Part 2: The Solution: To address this issue, I took the initiative to revamp the first level by adding a skybox and terrain features. Leveraging assets from the Unity Asset Store, I quickly implemented a skybox preset to add a sense of realism and atmosphere to the environment. Additionally, I utilized the Terrain module package from Unity’s package manager to create detailed terrain around the track. By using various terrain brushes, I sculpted the terrain to blend with the track, avoiding the appearance of the track floating in mid-air. This solution should provide players with a more engaging racing experience.
